Will Smith rumoured to star in live action Dumbo

The upcoming live action remake of the classic movie Dumbo has been kept very quiet.

Of course most of Disney’s time and money has gone into filming and promoting Beauty and the Beast, but now news is starting to emerge regarding Dumbo.

We know that Tim Burton will be directing the movie, working with Ehren Kruger’s script, who will also be producing and I’m not sure what to expect from this apart from the fact that it’s going to be a little darker than the original. I can only imagine what the famous pink elephant scene is going to look like when it’s been shaped to Burton’s style!

But, not a lot has been talked about in regards to the actors of the movie, until now.

Will Smith is rumored to play the father of children who take a liking to our lovable Dumbo after seeing him at the circus. This statement alone shows us how the remake is going to take an entirely different turn in comparison to the cartoon. The original hardly had any human interaction, whereas this looks like it’s going to be a lot more realistic. Could this work?

If he does take this role, it means that Bad Boys 3 will be put back for a considerable amount of time.

It’s also been rumored that Tom Hanks has been offered the part of the villain in the movie, but it has not been confirmed whether he will take the part, or play a villain in the World War II movie ‘The Grey Hound.’
