We all knew it was going to happen at some point. It was just a case of waiting, purses and wallets at the ready to book our tickets to Disneyland as soon as it was confirmed.
And yesterday was that day! Frozen has been given the green light to have it’s own ride at Disneyland.
The Wall Street Journal posted the first look image and details about the ride, which is to be opened in just a year!
The ride will be placed where the old Epcot ride Maelstrom sits now and after the 27 year old ride is dismantled, Frozen Ever After will take it’s place.
The new ride will follow the same path, which is probably why it will be built in such a short amount of time, because no new tracks will be placed, but with obvious scenery changes.
It will be a ‘It’s a Small World After All’ style ride, where you board a boat and slowly make your way through different settings remeniscent of those you will have seen in the 2013 smash hit. But not exactly the same!
“What we try to do is take you back to the movie without retelling that story,” says Kathy Mangum, the Imagineering Creative Executive “This is a celebration of the characters, a way for guests who love the film to experience it in a completely different way.”
There will also be new lyrics to some of your favourite songs from the film, to carry on this ‘old but new’ feeling the team is going for. Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson Lopez will be coming up with these new lyrics.
The ride itself is set during the Winter Festival, which is held in Summer for some reason.
In true Disney fashion though, the ride doesn’t start when you get in the boat. In fact it’ll start when you’re queuing. You’ll walk past Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post and you’ll see a digital Oaken clean steamed up windows and shout ‘Yoo Hoo!’ as you as you pass by! Ahh!
While you’re on the ride you’ll see sights such as Olaf and Sven at the Winter Festival, Troll Valley where Grandpappy Troll is telling the story of how Kristoff and Anna met, you’ll hear Olaf singing while he ice skates with Kristoff, Anna and Sven, you’ll be able to scream along as Elsa throws open the doors of her ice castle and sings Let It Go at you, and then pretend to throw snowballs as Marshmallow while he sits with Snowgies (the little snowmen that Elsa sneezes out during Frozen Fever.’
At the end you’ll drive past al of the characters as they wave at you, accompanied by fireworks.
It sounds amazing and I can’t wait for videos of the ride to be uploaded to Youtube so I can pretend I’m there. Why is everything so expensive? 😥
Are you excited about the ride? What else would you like to see on your journey through the new ride?
